There Once was a Class Writing Limericks

The Year 6's in Mrs Lansbury's class learned how to break down their Limericks into individual lines and then change their lines into syllable clusters that they understand using Explain Everything app. They then worked on their Reading Voice skills by evaluating if syllable clusters provide a better reading voice than plain text. Students recorded their explanations using voice recorder, laser pointers and shapes to also enhance their poetry voice.

Movie Making in Year 3 and 5

Year 5 students editing their video of a Chapter re-tell of the Novel 'Hatchet'. Year 3 students sharing out their procedural videos with their peers for feedback. Both the Year 3's in Mrs Sattel's class and Year 5's in Mrs Stewart's class worked on creating video products. Firstly, they recorded their videos in the camera app and added text overlays in the app too. Then they put all their movies together in iMovie app and refined them by adding introductions/conclusions or audio recordings to match their movies. They were very accomplished directors.

Creative Scary Story Writing

 The Year 2's in Mrs Kelsey's class continued developing their creative writing stories with a scary genre. They created settings and characters that matched their story boards and created eBooks for their parents and family to review. The art works and descriptive language are certainly scary!

QR Code Maths

Some of the fractions and multiplication question QR code questions. The year 5 and 6 students in Mrs Landsbury's class had the opportunity to apply their fractions and multiplication skills a Maths quiz with a difference using the iPads from the 1:1 iPad kit. Using QR codes created by their teacher using QRstuff on the web, the students tested themselves using their iPad to self assess and independently revise their skills. The students were honest, engaged and self directed during the quiz. Mrs Landsbury had not seen a Maths quiz like it before!

Trick or Poetry!

Scripting a summary and breaking down poems line by line Shooting the summary and each line of the poem as an individual video in camera app on the iPad Using props and effects to enhance the horror genre of the poem. In Mrs Allen's class the Year 3 and 4 students used the drafts of their scary halloween poems to create videos of read-aloud of their poems. First, they deconstructed the poem in their writing books checking that rhyming conventions and appropriate adjectives were used. Then they practiced reading with voice. The students then learned how to shoot and edit video in the camera app on the iPad. Finally, they used props and effects to record their poem read-aloud. The atmosphere was like Halloween!

All About Me!

The students shared out their eBooks using the Apple TV. Mrs Allen's class finished their eBooks titled "The Best Things About Me". They used Book Creator app to import simple and complex images from various web-based search engines to enhance their descriptive writing. They also learned how to mark-up or edit their images to create a colour based theme to enhance their descriptive writing for their audience.
