Art and Stories in Pre-Primary

Image
Touch typing skills were used a lot for page 2 of the students' books. Following on from their work using Book Creator to develop a story 'About Me', the students in Pre-Primary created a re-tell of the story 'The Hungry Caterpillar'. The cover of their book was a photo of their caterpillars they made in Art class. The students used typing, photo taking,  drawing and reading fluency skills to create some wonderful re-tells that included voice recordings of their reading.

Making Movies About Patterns

Image
Creating and recording patterns with a partner. Showing patterns to the class using the Apple TV. The Pre-Primary students in Mrs Kelly's class used the iMotion app to continue their work making and recognising patterns Maths. In pairs they created short time-lapse movies of patterns in Maths. The students seemed to enjoy developing stronger patterns each time such as doubles and three's. Finally, the students were able to share out their patterns movie to their friends using the Apple TV to show the whole class!

Resilience Comics

Image
Getting ready to take photos of setting and resolution picture. Importing setting and resolution drawing pictures into comic strips and planning which photos to take. The Year 2's in Mrs Kelsy's class drew some very colourful setting and resolution pictures to create their Resilience Mindset comic strips. They took photos of these with their iPads and even used their skills in 'marking up' photos such as cropping them, to take their best photo and import it into a comic strip frame in the Book Creator app. They followed their plans to make decisions about how to take photos of their friends making expressions that fit the 'Resilience Mindset'. They are looking forward to exploring comic strip text types to complete the comics.

Explaining Everything with Mrs Kelly's PP's

Image
The Pre-Primary students in Mrs Kelly's class described how they get to school using the Explain Everything app. The students selected the transport they use to get to school most of the time and coloured in their pictures. Then they photo'd their picture, wrote their name and recorded a voice over of their description of it. These will be exported to SeeSaw to add to the student's digital portfolios.

Resilience Mindset Posters using Pic Collage in Mrs Kelsy's Class

Image
Mrs Kelsy's class have been continuing to develop their Resilience Mindset posters using the Pic Collage app. They used the camera function to get their friends to take photos of them providing two expressions - 'ready to work' & 'not ready to work'. They also used the text function to type out statements of their resilience mindset goals and then matched these statements to their photo expressions.

Australian Animal Books using Book Creator app in Mrs Bateman's Class.

Mrs Bateman's Year 1/2 Class began their 'Australian Animal' writing task using the Book Creator app. After brainstorming as a class student's chose an Australian animal to write about and independently used the text function to type titles and headings on to several pages in their book to start planning it. The class will continue to work on these after Art lesson by taking a photo of their Australian animal art work and importing it into their Book Creator book to help describe what it looks like.
